Spring Forward: New Watering Rules Beginning March 9!
With daylight saving time kicking in on Sunday, March 9, residents in the St. Johns River Lower Basin can now water twice a week—but that doesn’t mean you should! Only water when needed to keep your lawn healthy and conserve resources.
Outdoor irrigation is a major water user, with 626 million gallons consumed daily—enough to fill 949 Olympic pools! Smart watering helps prevent mold, weak roots, weeds, and pests. Stay mindful, save water, and keep your landscape thriving! #WaterSmart #ConserveWater
The St. Johns River Water Management District has set mandatory watering restrictions to ensure efficient water use while keeping our landscapes healthy!
Watering Schedule:
Odd-numbered addresses (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) → Wednesday & Saturday
Even-numbered addresses (0, 2, 4, 6) → Thursday & Sunday
Nonresidential properties → Tuesday & Friday
Rules to Remember:
Watering is never allowed between 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.
Limit watering to no more than one hour per zone.
Always check the weather before watering – if it’s rained, skip a day!
Why does this matter?
Landscape irrigation accounts for over 50% of residential water use.
Conserving water helps delay costly alternative water supply projects.
Freshwater is a finite resource – let’s use it wisely!
