Public Works Director

THE TOWN OF HILLIARD is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to serve as a full-time Public Works Director. The position is responsible for providing professional direction and planning for the Department of Public Works. The position is responsible for planning, directing, budgeting, and evaluating the services provided by the divisions of Engineering, Facilities Management, Fleet Management, Road Maintenance, and Solid Waste Management. This position works closely with the Mayor and Town Council in all discussions and decision making in all pertinent areas.

Position requires background in utility work in the water and wastewater treatment plant operations, water and wastewater distribution and collection system, infrastructure, development, department supervision and management and can take on additional municipal duties as required.

A current Driver’s License and High School Diploma or GED equivalent are required. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field preferred and at least five years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering and/or Public Works, in which three (3) years of this experience must have been in an administrative/managerial capacity in the public sector, preferably in a municipal environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.
